Chief Ludeman started his fire service career as a Prince William County volunteer in 1989. He was hired by the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department in 1994 and served 27 years in a variety of assignments to include Training, EMS Supervisor, Communications Chief, Officer Development, Fire Investigations, Operations Battalion Chief, and Operations Deputy Chief. After retiring in September 2021, Chief Ludeman joined the Bedford County Department of Fire and Rescue as their Training Officer.
Chief Ludeman is honored to join Franklin County Department of Public Safety and excited to work alongside the men and women who execute the department’s mission 24/7/365. As a long time visitor to the area, Chief Ludeman now resides in Franklin County on Smith Mountain Lake with his wife Michelle. They have three adult sons and enjoy time out on the lake or on the golf course.
